With a career that spans the globe and seems to defy any concept of time, Georgia Native, Ellia English has had an indelible impact in Theater, Television and Motion Pictures.

Ellia, was born the middle of nine children to a Baptist Minister and a Domestic Worker, in Covington, Georgia. She grew up singing in her Church Choir and School Chorus. As well as, playing the flute in both the marching band and concert band.

Soon, Ellia attended Clark College and Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Where she continued her studies in Music, and also added studies in Speech and Drama.

Thereafter, having joined the ensemble players at the prestigious Alliance Theater, in Atlanta Georgia, where she became thoroughly dedicated to a life of acting and singing. It is befitting that she’d travel to New York City, pursuing a career in Theater; and then venture out to Los Angeles, in pursuit of her film and television career.

Now, considering her renowned stage roles in: Dreamgirls, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Showboat (both in the Us and in Europe), Romeo & Juliet, The Colored Museum, Spunk, Barnum, Nunsense, One Mo’ Time, Cotton Club Gala, and Down Hearted Blues (The Bessie Smith Story), to name a few.

And, her memorable television roles as: Aunt Helen (The Jamie Foxx Show), Auntie Rae (Curb Your Enthusiasm) Mary Lou Wentz (Good Luck Charlie) Mrs. Booker (Martin), Chayron (Valentine), Ruby (Wilfred), Lu Lu (Eagle Heart), Jennifer (Empty Nest), Rose (Thea), Regina (Love and War), Rev. Poppy (The Innocent), and Sister Love (Based On An Untrue Story).

Right up to her feature film roles: Nurse Alice (My Sister’s Keeper) Reba (Good Luck Chuck), Ms. Quincy (Semi-Pro), Mona (Cornered){for which she won the 2009 Best Actress Award, at the NYC Horror Film Festival}, as well as her film credits in Wildcats, Matchups, The Hustle, Danceflicks, Woman Thou Art Loosed, Hip-Hop Headstrong.

Ellia has well established herself as an artist of the first order!

Therefore, it shall come as no surprise that Ellia added to her considerable body of work the title “Author” with the publication of her book “I AM THAT I AM, A Journey Through Ad-Ol-Less-Sense (Xulon Press). Also, “Recording Artist/Music Producer, Arranger” with the release of her single, “THAT’S WHAT FAITH IS/YOU GOTTA BELIEVE IT”.

Ellia recently partnered with S.T.R.I.V.E. INC. www.striveeducationinc.com

She has embarked upon a “Loving Literacy Tour”, visiting schools and sharing with students the importance of developing a strong foundation in Literacy Skills; Ellia thoroughly enjoys witnessing the students develop a love for reading and learning.

Her motto: “ELLIA’S RULE, STAY IN SCHOOL! AND ELLIA’S THEME, FOLLOW YOUR DREAM!”
